Extending and renovating this bungalow to meet the needs of it owner has created a spacious, environmentally conscious and fully accessible dwelling. By extending the rear to have 2 wings, it has created a wonderful sheltered courtyard.
Two wings extend at the rear and create a sheltered south facing courtyard. The double height interior creates some stunning and dramatic spaces. One wing contains the master bedroom with en-suite and walk in wardrobe, while the other houses the kitchen and dining room. The existing garage footprint was made into another bedroom, shower room and utility. Beautiful larch cladding wraps around the building and will silver over time.
Our client was keen to make the house fully accessible. The flow of the interior and keeping everything on one level was key. The driveway was also raised so our client can park right outside.
I wanted to tell you how very happy I am – Although it is only a few weeks since I moved in I feel very comfortable and the house flows very well. It is extremely easy living and being able to wander outside whenever the weather is suitable is lovely. The light which floods into the back of the house is fabulous and I’m really looking forward to the summer. Thank you for a great design and for helping every step of the way through the process of planning and building. Every visitor has admired the house very much and locals have commented on the transformation of the bungalow.
