Old Rectory Cottage Opens Its Doors for Eco Open House 2025

We were delighted to take part in this year’s Eco Open House in the Lewes District, showcasing Old Rectory Cottage despite the stormy weather. A huge thank you to everyone who visited and braved the elements to join us.

Originally built in 1890, Old Rectory Cottage has been sensitively transformed into a modern, energy-efficient home. The retrofit and new 108m² extension introduce a sunken kitchen-diner, a striking cantilevered oriel window, and generous views across the South Downs.

Achieving an A-rated EPC, the home now benefits from an air source heat pump, underfloor heating, a 10kW solar array with battery storage, passive solar design, and comprehensive insulation and glazing upgrades—dramatically reducing energy consumption and reliance on the grid.

Our thanks to Ovesco for organising the tours, and of course to the homeowners for warmly opening their doors and sharing their sustainable home journey.
