New build eco house (undertaken at previous practice BBM Sustainable Design).
The house demonstrates a 79% reduction in emission when compared with the UK’s average emission. In conclusion this meets the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions target of an 80% reduction by 2050. The house features a fully integrated photovoltaic and solar thermal tiled roof, also with integrated rooflights. In addition there is a whole house MVHR system (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery). The low energy dwelling demonstrates how sustainable design can be both beautiful and functional with and EPC of 93 (A rating).
The building is designed to utilise areas of high passive solar gain. For instance the large south facing glazing redistribute this throughout the building by way of the MVHR system. The Walls, floors and ceilings are highly insulated with u-values of: roof u-values of 0.09 // floor 0.16 // walls 0.14.
